Smart home automation is primarily a technology which gives access to control devices at home from a smartphone, anywhere in the world. More accurately, home automation describes homes in which almost everything, from lights, appliances, electrical outlets to heating and cooling systems, are all connected via a controllable network. From the point of view of security, alarm systems, all the doors and windows, locks, smoke detectors, surveillance cameras and all the other sensors linked to it. It basically brings in more convenience, efficiency, comfort and security in our lives, in the following manner:
Why do we need smart home automation?
Having known the key characteristics of automation, it is now important to understand the things to be avoided while planning it- It is important to understand the difference between ‘must have’ and ‘nice to have’ when planning to install smart home automation. It is advisable to avoid going for systems which are very complicated to program or you might end up changing your plan afterwards, which will double the cost. Reliability is yet another important factor in such situations. If the technology requires complicated programming, it can bring in a lot of inconvenience and additional cost over time. It is also advisable to avoid relying on a single point of control, especially if the source is via Wi-Fi because if the network goes down, there will not be any alternate control for the devices. Individual controls like wall-mounted keypads are a good option along with an integrated control. Even when the network is down, individual controls will be accessible. Therefore, a smart home technology will not only provide the benefit of a luxurious life, it will do so while keeping our bills in check. For instance, sensors will automatically turn the light off when there isn’t any presence of a moving body/object. It might be heavy in your pockets when installing it, but it is sure to save up your bills in the long run.
